Online TV service Joost relaunches with Adobe Flash

Online peer-to-peer TV service Joost announced its relaunch featuring Adobe Flash software that will focus on “in-browser content consumption,” Beta News reported Tuesday. The site will also have new social media services, according to Brand Republic.

In the past, users had to download and install a desktop tool in order to watch the content. Now, they will have the option of directly streaming the content. Joost users can also share videos and communicate with other users, comment on videos and look at what other users are watching.

“Our new Web-based version lets us provide a deeper social experience than we were able to in our Joost software. With our new social tools, we've come even closer to bridging this gap and bringing the inherently social nature of video into the online world,” a Joost blog stated, according to Beta News.

Another element called JoostFeed is also available, which gathers all the newly released Joost content and appears either on Joost or embedded into any Internet site or social network.

Joost has nearly 46,000 professional video clips and its partners include CBS, Showtime, Last.fm and Sony Pictures Television, Brand Republic reported.

Joost is a global company, which has three main hubs in the United States, United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
