Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) announced Wednesday it will launch technology that will accommodate “emerging” high-speed wireless networks, reported Reuters Thursday.
The company said that it would be the first to provide “fourth-generation-ready” or 4G mobile network hardware for more than 10 operators by the end of this year. The hardware could be optimised to become Long-Term Evolution (LTE) with new software from 2009, which might make it cheaper for operators, according to Reuters.
LTE would permit faster mobile video sharing and downloads. However, the technology would only emerge on networks in about two years, so network equipment might not experience significant sales in the near future, Reuters reported.
