Goddard launches digital sales firm

Digicom, a sales group for independent outdoor digital screen firms, has been launched in the United Kingdom by ex-Chief Executive of CBS Outdoor Tom Goddard, Brand Republic reported Thursday.

“We identified a missing link between independent digital network operators and the buying industry of specialist agencies and media agencies,” said Goddard. “The independent networks we plan to service need this more than ever because it will offer increased incremental revenue and reduced selling costs.”

Digicom will provide technical help and will attempt to establish uniform standards across the digital industry. It hopes to create a minimum amount of technical and delivery standards so as to diminish the delivery difficulties that cause financial resources to drop.

The company predicted that the outdoor digital market in the United Kingdom is worth around £40 million, and could increase by four times by 2012. According to Brand Republic, there are more than 100 independent digital networks in the country, which could amount to as many as 130,000 outdoor screens.

Digicom will begin operations in January and will feature former CBS Outdoor Chief Technical Officer Tim Butler and former Titan Commercial Director Ralph Ahern, Brand Republic reported.
