Nokia 5800 to hit Russia first, HP launches 2 new handsets

The Russian mobile device market will be the first in the world to receive the Nokia 5800 Xpress model, which will be equipped with a touch screen, Lenta.ru reported Tuesday.

The new Nokia model will be launched on December 8 in Russia, with a price tag of RUB 16,000 (US$594). The phone will be on sale in Ukraine starting in the second half of December and in Kazakhstan from January 2009.

The Nokia 5800 has a 3.2 inch display screen, a 3.2 megapixel camera and an 8 GB memory, according to Lenta.ru. It is expected that the model would be compatible with the Comes With Music service in 2009, which will allow users to download an unlimited number of music tracks.

Meanwhile, HP announced the launch of its mobile devices the iPaq Data Messenger and iPaq Voice Messenger, CNet Asia reported. The latter is expected to enter the Asian Pacific market by the end of November, while the former is expected by the end of December.

The Data Messenger has a touchscreen and network features such as tri-band HSDPA, quad-band, GSM, Wifi, Bluetooth as well as a GPS service. The Voice Messenger is a non-touchscreen replacement model for HP's previous 512 Voice Messenger that includes a QWERTY keyboard that contains two letters per key. Both are equipped with a 3.1 megapixel camera, according to CNet Asia.
