Yandex is the most popular search engine in the Russian-language Internet sector, followed by Google and Web portal Mail.ru, according to research from Internet firm LiveInternet, Lenta.ru reported Monday.
Last month, Yandex and Google had 55.2 and 22.9 percent of Russian online searches, respectively. Mail.ru had a 9 percent portion of the search engine market in October, while portal Rambler had 8.1 percent.
Yandex and Google had a 55 percent share and 22.4 percent share in the sector in September, respectively. During the same period, Mail.ru had an 8.9 percent share in all searches while Rambler had 9.6 percent, according Lenta.ru.
In January this year, Rambler took up nearly 15 percent of the market, while Mail.ru had 7.7 percent. Both Yandex and Google have increased their shares in Russian-language searches since then. Yandex had a 53.9 percent stake nearly ten months ago, when Google had 18 percent, Lenta.ru reported.
