Swiss presses manufacturer Wifag-Polytype Group has purchased Spühl/Legett & Platt's Digital Printing Department as part of its plan to enter the digital printing market, Editor & Publisher reported Tuesday.
Wifag Polytype Holding will incorporate the department, along with its current 30 staffers in Switzerland and the United States, as part of its WP Digital AG business unit, which will be located in Wittenbach, Switzerland.
Wifag Polytype Holding has about 1,500 employees globally and manufactures newspaper presses (Wifag), package printing presses, and converting plants for cosmetics, food and pharmaceutical industries (Polytype). It is also active in the graphics machines and accessories (Wifag), E&P reported, according to a statement from the group.
“WP Digital AG will continue to develop, sell and service digital UV large-format printers in the Wifag Polytyope Group. Spühl AG will continue to make digital large-format printers on behalf of WP Digital AG,” the report stated.
