Global mobile entertainment revenues will boost from less than US$30 billion in 2008 to nearly $60 billion in 2012, according research by Juniper Research and eMarketer, SFN's World Digital Media Trends 2008 reported.
Music and games make up the two biggest chunks in 2008, contributing about $10 billion and $8 billion. In 2012, they are expected to remain as the top two, but with relatively flat growth compared to other sectors.
Mobile TV, however, only accounted for a niche in 2008, but is predicted to boost to more than $10 billion in 2012, and become the third biggest contributor to global mobile entertainment revenues, according to Juniper Research and eMarketer.
User-generated content, infotainment, adult, and gambling are also rising – they will generate about $20 billion collectively in 2012, according to the report, World Digital Media Trends 2008, released by SFN and the World Association of Newspapers.
