U.S. public radio network NPR (National Public Radio) will be led by Vivian Schiller, NYTimes.com vice president and general manager, FollowtheMedia reported Thursday.
Schiller will become CEO of NPR beginning Jan. 5, replacing interim NPR CEO Dennis Haarsagar.
NPR is content supplier for 880 public not-for-profit radios stations across the United States. Local affiliates pay for NPR programming, while corporate and public interest pay the rest, according to FollowtheMedia.
Current audience estimates show a 12 percent annual growth for NPR to more than 28 million listeners, and the network also recently launched NPR Community, a social network.
