In a partnership with video transcoding service RipCode, MySpace will begin offering MySpace videos to mobile users, TechCrunch reported Tuesday.
This service will be available on m.myspace.com, MySpace's mobile site, which currently attracts 10 million monthly users and generates nearly three billion monthly page views.
Video streaming will work on selected phones, including iPhone, T-Mobile G1, BlackBerry Bold and BlackBerry Storm devices. Most premium content and all user uploaded videos ("meaning videos that a user has uploaded, as opposed to all videos uploaded by all users") will also be available, TechCrunch reported.
Using RipCode's on demand service, videos will be transcoded only when they are requested, and are transcoded into what that specific handset requires in terms of codes, bit rates and resolution, according to TechCrunch.
YouTube introduced similar functionality at m.YouTube.com earlier this year, TechCrunch reported.
