From January through November, Americans used search engines on their mobile devices mostly for social networking, according to two separate announcements from Yahoo! and AOL, moco News reported Monday.
According to AOL, the top five mobile searches included MySpace, AIM, iPhone, MocoSpace and Facebook, similar to Yahoo's top 10 list, which had MySpace, Facebook and Craigslist in the top three.
The rest of the searches on Yahoo's list covered various topics, such as entertainment, weather and news. They were: movies, weather, the Olympics, The Dark Knight, Kim Kardashian, eBay and AIG, moco News reported.
The top mobile searches highly differ from the searches made on PCs. According to Yahoo, its top searches for the PC were: Britney Spears, WWE, Barack Obama, Miley Cyrus, RuneScape, Jessica Alba, Naruto, Lindsay Lohan, Angelina Jolie and American Idol, according to moco News.
