Afrikaans-language Beeld expands to TV

Afrikaans-language Beeld expands to TV

The content of Africaans-language daily newspaper Beeld is now available on DStv as an interactive news channel, BizCommunity reported Wednesday.

The move to making the South African newspaper's content available on TV is another step to offer "news when and where our readers require it - and in a format they prefer," said Ina Knott, the newspaper's multimedia manager.

As a way to introduce the expansion onto television, viewers are being invited to be in a competition on the new channel. The winner will win a large high-definition television and an HD PVR, according to BizCommunity.

Beeld is distributed in five provinces of South Africa: Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, North West and KwaZulu-Natal.
