The BBC and Nokia have partnered to make the BBC's Arabic and English international news channels part of Nokia's Internet Radio application on the mobile maker's devices, FollowtheMedia reported Tuesday.
Three channels will be part of Nokia's preloaded Radio application on its mobiles. The channels, BBC World Service in English, BBC World Service's 24-hour rolling news in English and BBC Arabic, will be offered for live streaming 24 hours a day.
"For delivery over the Internet Radio platform, we are providing an MP3-format stream that can be picked up via Wi-Fi or through a mobile data connection, mirroring our online offer in these languages. This is the first time we've made our live 24-hour audio streams available specifically for a mobile platform, as part of our commitment to a multi-format strategy," said Karl Kathuria, head of digital delivery, BBC World Service, according to FollowtheMedia.
