The Independent and French News channel France 24 have closed a deal for English-language content, in which the UK newspaper will use video provided by France 24, Media Guardian reported Tuesday.
"The deal with France 24 is one of a number that we hope to be setting up as we build up our video content in the new year," said Jimmy Leach, the Independent's editorial director for digital.
Leach told Media Guardian that the newspaper will partner with other content providers "for creating news and magazine videos both for our on-site player, done with WebTV, and our off-site delivery through the likes of YouTube and iTunes. Over the next few months, we should be able to provide users with an extra dimension to the site and so continue to drive traffic and user numbers."
France 24 has signed five other deals to supply exclusive video news content in English and French.
