Detroit daily newspapers, which canceled home delivery four days a week, now offer same-day mail delivery through the U.S. Postal Service, Media Buyer Planner reported.
Those subscribers who want to receive the Detroit Free Press or the Detroit News on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays can receive it by mail beginning March 30, according to Editor & Publisher.
The papers will still be delivered to some places in which a newsstand isn't available to residents, including nursing homes and other institutions, the company stated.
In December, the papers announced they would stop home delivery four days of the week, beginning at the end of March 2009. The papers will still deliver on Thursdays and Fridays, and on Sundays as well for the Free Press (the News does not publish a Sunday paper), according to E&P.
On other days, the papers will print 32-page, single-sections to be available at newsstands. Single-copys will still cost 50 cents on weekdays, and $1.50 for the Sunday Free Press, Media Buyer Planner reported.
