Sky news exec: Quality content has 'valuable shelf life'

Professional news organisations putting out trusted content will always be valuable, and will no doubt exist 20 years in the future, John Ryley, head of the United Kingdom's Sky News, said Monday, Press Gazette reported.

In addition, audiences will always be willing to pay for quality journalism, Ryley said at the inaugural Bob Friend Memorial Lecture.

"In 10 - 15 years' time the world will be awash with information, but trusted news sources have a valuable shelf life. I'm convinced people will pay for that," he said, according to Press Gazette.

Ryley predicted that audiences will rely more and more on mobile phones for news instead of depending on TV, as mobiles enable people to watch the news whenever and wherever they want.
