Tata Communications will invest US$430 million in data and cable systems in the Asia Pacific region, Telecompaper reported Thursday.
The Indian communications services provider will develop a new Internet data centre in Singapore, and also announced the completion of its $250 million TGN-Intra Asia cable system, which connects Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam and the Philippines.
The data centre, slated for completion in early 2010, will be called the Tata Communications Exchange and will enhance the capacities for both domestic and international companies, according to Telecompaper. Mapletree Industrial Fund is partnering with Tata on the development.
The TGN-Intra Asia cable system will span 6,700 km, and is aimed at increasing data and voice reliability, Telecompaper reported. The expansion into the Philippines and Vietnam is being done in partnership with Globe Telecom and EVN Telecom, respectively.
