The Huffington Post published its list of standards for citizen journalism this week.
The commandments of online reporting emphasise research and citing sources and references, advising reporters to, "include a link that supports your statement."
The list also promotes backing up quotes used in stories as well as "negative, fact-based" assertions. Along with ethical instructions for online reporting, the standards also address stylistic elements, advising writers to do a spell and grammar check, and to "keep all reports to under 1,000 words."
