In the most recent round of layoffs for the U.S. newspaper industry, the San Diego Union-Tribune has cut 192 jobs across all departments of the paper, The Associated Press reported on Friday.
Accounting for around 18 percent of its staff base, the Tribune will be reduced to 850 permanent staff members. The cuts will become effective July 6. The paper's new owner, private equity firm Platinum Equity, acquired the Union-Tribune from Copley Press Inc. just three days ago.
