Thai anti-government movement, the United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), also known as the red-shirts, is set to launch a newspaper on Friday titled The Red News, Xinhua reported Thursday.
The UDD had hoped to release its first issue in mid-May. "The first edition of Red News will be distributed nationwide featuring political news at national and local levels," editor Somyos Prueksakaemsuk said. The editor added that the newspaper would also include "concentrated content" on the activities of the group.
Prueksakaemsuk announced that UDD leader Jakrapob Penkair and expelled premier Thaksin Shinawatra, will both serve as columnists. Friday's issue will not feature any articles by Shinawatra due to technical problems.
The group made world wide news earlier in April, when its members invaded the ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Thai resort town Pattya, causing the cancellation of the conference. Later protests against the government and Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, resulted in violent confrontation with the military and Bangkok residents
