Cox Newspapers to sell Daily Sentinel

The Cox Newspapers-owned Daily Sentinel in Grand Junction, Colorado, is being sold to a subsidiary of a Kansas-based company, Forbes.com reported on Thursday.

Cox newspapers is selling the Daily Sentinel in Grand Junction to Kansas-based Grand Junction Media Inc.

The newspaper reported on Wednesday that Seaton Publishing Co. subsidiary would buy the paper for an undisclosed price. Cox Newspapers said it believes the newspaper "will continue to be vital within Grand Junction" under new ownership.

Daily Sentinel's executive editor says he "couldn't be more delighted with the new ownership," according to Forbes.

The sale is not expected to affect any employees and Edward Seaton, son of Grand Junction Media chairman, will join the newspaper.

Cox said last year it was looking to sell most of the newspapers in Colorado, North Carolina and Texas.
