Digital software provider PageSuite has launched mydigitalnewspaper, an online archive of the company's online papers, Journalsim.co.uk reported Monday.
The site will allow searches of past online newspapers by country, publication, date and type of title. According to Editor & Publisher, the search tool will also include a keyword or phrase filter in order to find old online stories.
Back editions of supplements or free titles are accessible on the archive for free; however, those titles with a cover price will cost the same amount to access the archive Web site.
"If people search and find content within a paid for title, additional text is shown, to give context to the searched terms or phrase - thereby hopefully enticing customers to subscribe, or purchase a one-off edition," a spokesman for PageSuite told Journalism.co.uk.
Initial coverage will reach back three to six months into past copies. The spokesperson added that this could be extended dependent on the popularity of the site and the number of online issues published with PageSuite.
Currently, mydigitalnewspaper houses 520 titles from 60 newspaper publishers.
