Edipresse Polska buys 65% of wizaz.pl

Edipresse Polska, a subsidiary of the Swiss media and communications company Edipresse Group, has acquired 65 percent of top Polish women portal wizaz.pl. The joint venture will now be called Edipresse Wizaż Sp. z o.o., according to a press release.

"Wizaz.pl is a community service while all Edipresse's sites are editorial based on high quality content. Together we will create a formidable Internet offering for both Polish women and key advertisers," Tomasz Zembrzycki, a member of the managing board of wizaz.pl said in a statement. He is also a co-founder, along with Agnieszka Zembrzycka.

Edipresse is aiming to become a top player in Poland's digital space.

"According to Megapanel/PBI research carried out in May 2009, Edipresse lifestyle websites and wizaz.pl reached 2.3 million unique users. This acquisition will undoubtedly give us important scale," Zbigniew Napierala, President of Edipresse Polska, said in a statement.

wizaz.pl was launched in 2000, and is in the fifth spot in the online women's segment in Poland, following women's sections of main portals in the country. It is a source of beauty information, and has the largest Internet catalogue of cosmetic products in Poland.
