Last Tuesday marked the launch of Taiwan's first newspaper focusing on coverage of the island, Chinaview.cn reported Monday.

The daily paper, named Wangbao, is available across Taiwan and will focus on the mainland's financial, political, educational and cultural news.

According to the editor-in-chief, the newspaper will look to provide Taiwanese people with a better understanding of the mainland, its people and their culture, as its influence grows on the people of the East-Asian Island.

The newspaper will work in conjunction with other major news sources in the area.
