Fairfax Media Australia today launched a new national journalism Web site, the National Times, the Brisbane Times reported Monday.

The nationaltimes.com.au will be a collaboration of Fairfax news, analysis and editorials, seeking to provide broad and live national and international coverage from the media company's most prominent journalists.

The online publication will feature content from Fairfax's top big city newspapers, such as The Herald, and The Age as well as contributions from more than 160 rural and suburban papers.

The site's launch featured columns from the Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd and the Opposition Leader, Malcolm Turnbull.
