The Roscommon Herald-News, in continuous publication since 1883, breathed its last on November 5, The Crawford County Avalanche yesterday reported. The weekly community newspaper - published in Michigan, United States - sold its assets to the Houghton Lake Resorter, according to a Nov. 7 article on the Roscommon Herald-News Web site.

According to data kept by Michigan lawmakers, the two newspapers were the only ones published in the region as of 1999.
