Consumers still rely on newspaper advertising

A report by the Newspaper Association of America shows an interesting consumer need for the print form of newspapers, as 59 percent of shoppers said they use newspaper advertisement comparisons to plan their shopping trips, the Sacramento Business Journal reported Monday.
Of those who checked newspaper advertising, 61 percent clipped coupons, 50 percent brought a product advertised in a newspaper and 27 percent tried something for the first time.

According to the report (which allowed respondents to check more than one category), 41 percent of consumers depend on newspapers as a main way to view ads, followed by the Internet (21 percent), Direct Mail (14 percent) and television (8 percent).
