London paid newspaper the Evening Standard has been seeing year-on-year increases in circulation for the past four months, escalating by 0.97 percent to 287,173 copies per day in December 2008, The Guardian reported Friday.

Last month, the Daily Mail and General Trust-owned paper slashed its daily editions from three to two and decreased the quantity of newsagents that distribute the title.
Although circulation climbed into December, circulation usually sees a decrease during the Christmas holiday, and this year was no exception, with circulation down 5.24 percent month-on-month, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations.

Full-price sales fell by 16,056, to 158,382 copies, while bulk sales jumped to 126,346 copies. Bulk copies make up 44 percent of the title's total circulation, which is a 3 percent increase since November, MediaGuardian reported.
