Dutch free daily launches regional editions

Holland's free daily, De Pers, plans to launch four regional editions this summer, circulating in Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht, Newspaper Innovation reported.

Following the finalisation of an advertising agreement with free daily publisher Wegener, De Pers decided to concentrate on serving readers in major metropolitan areas of Holland, where Wegener does not currently publish papers.

The advertising deal with Wegener resulted in a decrease of circulation for De Pers, which now sees only 200,000 dailies printed. However, the two publishers together have readership from south-western Holland to the eastern regions, covering the countries four biggest cities.
