"I'm on fire about this," Clifton Robinson said. "I think the Trib is the greatest newsgathering facility that there is, and it holds the greatest opportunity going forward."
The Tribune-Herald has an average daily circulation of 40,385 and Sunday circulation of 49,723. Cox Media Group Executive Vice President Doug Franklin said all Tribune-herald employees would be retained apart from retiring publisher Belinda Gaudet.
"We understand that local is our best market. We want to try to increase the content on what we gather locally," Gordon Robinson said, according to the AP.
The sale of Tribune-Herald is part of Cox Enterprises plan to sell its newspapers in Colorado, North Carolina and Texas. Cox reported on Thursday the sale of the Daily Sentinel in Grand Junction, Colorado.
