Newspaper project awarded US$100 million grant

The Ford Foundation has given a US$100 million grant to West Virginia University's rural newspaper project, the Charleston Daily Mail reported.
The project's goal is to help rural newspapers across West Virginia transition into the technological trends that have come to define the industry.

Students of the school of journalism take part in the programme by
helping papers generate digital content for their Web sites and
conducting workshops covering topics related to digital and online
media.
The team plans to use the grant money to expand their project to extend beyond the state's boundaries.
