Politico.jpgThe Huffington Post and Politico are set to see profits for the full calendar year of 2009, MediaGuardian reported today. U.S. online news site the Huffington Post is expected to earn revenues between US$15 million to $17 million, while U.S. political news organisation Politico is estimated to have made $20 million or more, according to paidContent.

Politico was launched in January 2007 by Allbritton Communications, and its ownership structure was changed in November last year, when Allbritton distributed "equity interests of Politico to the family-owned holding company called 'Perpetual'." No reason for the change was given, but it means that beginning Nov. 13, Politico's earnings numbers will not be found in Allbritton's filings.

For comparison's sake, that's three times the Drudge Report's readership, and trailing The New York Times, which has 16.6 unique visitors in November, The Los Angeles Times reported.

It also grew employee numbers last year, from 49 to 89 full-time staffers, according to MediaGuardian.
