Two popular Georgian sports newspapers Lelo and Sport have merged with one other to form one newspaper, now called Lelo. The founders of the newspaper are newspaper Lelo and Sportmedia Ltd., with the Georgian Olympic Foundation as a partner of the edition, as well as well known Georgian businessman Badri Patarkatsishvili. Sport has been issued since 2002, and was part of Patarkatsishvili’s media holding. Lelo is one of the oldest Georgian newspapers, first issued in 1934 under the title Sakartvelos Pizkultureli (Georgia’s Athlete).
