As of Friday evening, the editor-in-chief of the Hindustan Times will no longer work there.
Chaitanya Kalbag joined HT Media, which publishes the Times, in Sept. of 2006 after serving as managing editor of Reuters Asia.
Kalbag is the second high-level employee to leave HT Media this year, Agency Faqs has reported. The first was Vir Sanghvi, who moved out of his active role as editorial director to the non-active role of editorial advisor. Sanghvi is now the CEO of Indrani Muherjee's INX Media's upcoming news and general entertainment channels.
Kalbag said it is too early to take the next step in his career, and is quoted as saying “you should ask the management that,” as to whether his quitting was his choice, or made on the management side.
When Kalbag was questioned about whether the recent development was a move from his side or the management’s side, he played it down, saying, “You should ask the management that.”
