UK regional papers appoint new editors

Two UK regional papers, the Norwich Evening News and the Swindon Advertiser, have appointed new editors.
Norwich Evening News, an Archant-owned newspaper, appointed James Foster as the new editor. Foster’s move follows the departure of David Bourn, who quit the post in May.
Meanwhile, Swindon Advertiser, a Newsquest daily, appointed Dave King, currently deputy editor at the Southern Daily Echo in Southampton, as its new editor, according to a UK news report.
Foster, 38, is currently deputy editor at the Cambridge Evening News, and has been working at the newspaper for nine years. In 2002, he was promoted to assistant editor, having previously been chief sub-editor, according to an article on holdthefrontpage.co.uk.
King, 44, has been involved heavily in the development of Echo’s online presence, and has had a key role in training journalists and organising the Echo’s training brief. He was sports editor at the Echo before his promotion to deputy editor. Prior to that, he was the sports editor at The News in Portsmouth.
