Nielsen reorganises online and mobile measurement services

The Nielsen Co. Monday announced a reorganisation of its online and mobile measurement services, consolidating its Nielsen//NetRatings division with BuzzMetrics into Nielsen Online, and re-branding the recently-acquired Telephia unit as Nielsen Mobile.
As part of the plan, Itzhak Fisher, former executive chairman of BuzzMetrics, has been named executive chairman of Nielsen Online. Manish Bhatia, executive vice president of Nielsen//NetRatings, was named president of global services and U.S. sales for Nielsen Online,. Jonathan Carson, a co-founder of BuzzMetrics, was named president of Nielsen Online's international organisation.
According to a Media Post article, the newly consolidated unit will provide online and digital media measurement services including:
- Internet media and market research products, supported by patented technologies and innovative and proven research methodologies. - Panel-based and site-centric Internet audience measurement services. - Demographic data, online advertising intelligence and user lifestyle information. - E-commerce, search and transaction metrics, custom data, research and analysis. - Tracking, analysis and measurement of consumer-generated media.
In terms of Nielsen Mobile, Sid Gorham, former CEO of Telephia, was named CEO.
The new unit will absorb its existing mobile measurement services, including those being developed by Nielsen Wireless, and Telephia, a provider of syndicated consumer research to the telecom and mobile markets. Nielsen RingScan, an unit measuring downloaded ringtones, will remain as part of the Nielsen Entertainment organisation, Media Post reported.
