The newspaper software provider Digital Technology International (DTI) is aiming to unify print and web publishing with a new software tool, PrintWeek reported Thursday.
MediaPool brings print and online publishing closer together, keeping all content together in one database, regardless of where it will end up.
“The software launch marks DTI's entry into the cross-media content management market dominated by Reading-based Atex,” PrintWeek stated.
MediaPool does not require copies of stories in separate folders or databases that must be changed one at a time. The combined database structure means each story's content is a single object.
“This is more efficient, safer and more streamlined,” Don Oldham, DTI's chief executive, told PrintWeek. “It eliminates the challenges of systems that rely on many interfaces.”
