Overall advertising revenues declined 10.6 percent to $222 million.

Classified advertising revenues plummeted 19.2 percent due to huge 26.9 percent declines in real estate. Help wanted also dropped 21.7 percent.

According to the company, the retail ad revenues also dropped 7.8 percent, mostly because of big decreases in department stores, amusements, and electronics categories.

Interactive revenues, however, were up 11.4 percent to $22 million.

Circulation revenues slid 6.3 percent on slower single-copy sales, and continued selective discounting in home delivery, Tribune said.

Besides the print business, Tribune's broadcasting and entertainment group brought in $96 million revenues in October, down 13.3 percent, mostly due to lower revenues from the television and the Chicago Cubs, Editor & Publisher reported.
