The union claims Johnston Press, which publishes local newspapers in the United Kingdom and Ireland, offered Milton Keynes Citizen staffers a three percent pay raise for 2007, but the offer was rejected, according to HoldtheFrontPage.

Instead, the union journalists want a 3.5 percent raise, which reflects the increased number of titles produced by less staffers.

Eleven union members intending to take part in the next strike action are on staff at the newspaper.
