Aaj Kal will give readers an Urdu paper based on its English counterpart, the Daily Times, which calls itself “A new voice for a new Pakistan,” the newspaper stated. Aaj Kal aims to give a “liberal, modern, progressive and democratic,” vision of the future, according to the Daily Times.

“It will also be a newspaper of reconciliation, urging an end to the politics of revenge,” said Najam Sethi, editor-in-chief of the Daily Times and Aaj Kal.

Salmaan Taseer, publisher of the two papers, said Aaj Kal will promote a more liberal, secular, progressive and modern Pakistan.

The Daily Times reported that this is the first instance of a newspaper launching an Urdu version after already having an English version, because of demand.
