comScore names top global Web properties

comScore has released its list of top 20 global Web properties, ranked based on total unique visitors, as of December 2007, and only one newspaper has made the list.
The New York Times came in 19th, with 9 percent reach worldwide, and 69,435,000 unique users, comeScore World Metrix data revealed.
The top global Web property was Google sites, followed by Microsoft sites in second place, and Yahoo! sites in third place. The rankings are based on total worldwide users, aged 15 and over, accessing the Internet both at home and work.
The comScore data showed that Google sites have a 72 percent worldwide reach, and 587,806,000 unique users. Microsoft has a 66 percent reach, and 540,285,000 unique users. Yahoo! has a 59 percent reach, and 484,674,000 unique visitors.
Also among the top 20 are Facebook.com, with 97,792,000 unique visitors and 12 percent global reach, Amazon sites, with 170,599,000 uniques and 21 percent reach and Wikipedia sites, with 226,119,000 uniques 28 percent reach.
The list excludes data from public computers, such as Internet cafes, and mobile devices.
