U.S. online social networking ads will boom in the next few years, according to research firm eMarketer.
The spending of online social networking advertising totaled US$350 million in 2006. With an amazing jump of over 160 percent, it reached $920 million in 2007.
This year, it is expected to exceed $1.56 billion, with an annual growth rate of 70 percent, according to eMarketer.
The growth is expected to slow down in the next few years, from 29 percent annually in 2009 to 13 percent in 2010. However, the spending will reach $2.7 billion in 2011, eMarketer reported.
