News, comedy most popular online video categories in U.S.

News and comedy are the top two most popular video categories in the United States, with over 30 percent of online video viewers having ever watched them, according to Pew Internet & American Life Project Tracking Survey.
Educational videos and music are also quite popular, with over 20 percent having watched it in the past.

Only 19 percent said they watched online videos yesterday, which indicates that most of the population uses it from times to times, rather than as a regular daily activity.
In terms of the most popular online video sites, YouTube is ranked on the top, with 27 percent of online video viewers using it. For those aged 18 to 29, the score is even higher, with 49 percent.
News Web sites was ranked second by all viewers, with a 12 percent score. It is relatively less popular among younger generations.
Young people between age 18 and 29, however, ranked MySpace and Google video as their second and third favourites, with 15 percent and 10 percent saying so.
The survey was conducted by Pew Internet & American Life Project during February and March 2007.
