Norcliffe Media’s Hull Daily Mail deputy editor, Mel Cook, has been assigned as editor of the Scunthorpe Telegraph, another Northcliffe title, the Press Gazette reported Thursday.
Jane Manning, who is being replaced by Cook, will become Norcliffe’s Kent Regional News and Media Group editor-in-chief, which includes the Faversham Times.
Cook will start his new position May 19. Until then, Dave Atkin will remain editor at Scunthorpe.
“Under Jane’s leadership the Scunthorpe editorial team also made great strides forward in multi-media publishing. Mel now has the opportunity to develop our services to readers in print and digitally still further and to ensure the Telegraph and its sister platforms are at the heart of all things local in Scunthorpe,” said John Meehan, Hull Daily Mail editor, according to Press Gazette.
The Scunthorpe had a circulation of 20,568, a decrease of 3.3 per cent year-on-year, from July to December 2007.
