Personal computers, the Internet, and broadband have continued to grow in Europe since 2003, and by 2010, computers and the Internet are expected to reach more than 60 percent, according to the data from Screen Digest and Eurostat.
In 2003, the penetration of computer (per household) was 49 percent, higher than that of online and broadband, which reported at 35.2 percent and 5.1 percent, respectively.
The growing trends are quite steady across these three technologies – in 2005, computer reached about 60 percent of European households, while online reached over 45 percent, and broadband 12.6 percent.
With the stable growth, computers will penetrate about 75 percent of households in 2010, while online reach will exceed 64 percent. Broadband reach, in addition, will almost double to 25 percent of all the European population, according to Screen Digest and Eurostat.
