Financial Times Group announced it is planning to launch a magazine in China, a move to expand the Financial Times brand into “fast-growing markets,” The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.
The magazine will target China's increasing number of affluent people in the business world, stated the London-based Pearson Plc, owner of the Financial Times Group.
Reuters first reported news of the magazine, and said it would be called “Rui,” which is Chinese for “intelligence.” Pearson said in a statement that the magazine “will be a quality lifestyle/wealth-management title and we hope readers will find it informative, useful and entertaining,” The Wall Street Journal reported.
Pearson has sold newspapers in France, Germany and Spain in past years to focus on expanding the Financial Times, which currently sells more copies outside its British home market, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Pearson also plans to launch a new business daily in India, our partner site, Editorsweblog.org, reported Monday.
