Following in the footsteps of The Times, UK newspapers the Guardian and the Daily Telegraph intend to increase their cover prices by 10p this weekend, Brand Republic reported.
Telegraph Media Group announced that Saturday's issue of The Daily Telegraph will cost £1.60 instead of £1.50 and the weekday issues will rise from 80p to 90p. The Sunday Telegraph, however, will not get more expensive.
The Guardian reports that its Saturday paper's price will increase from £1.50 to £1.60, while its weekday papers will remain at 80p.
The increases in cover prices are likely a result of the increasing focus that papers put on their subscription services, according to Brand Republic.
The most "advanced" subscription packages are run by the Telegraph Media Group, The Financial Times and Times Media, Brand Republic reported. Last week, Times Media launched Culture+, its first loyalty card, in order to boost revenue.
