German news agency Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa) is hoping to better monetize its text, videos and pictures through a deal with Attributor, an online content monitor, paidContent:UK reported Wednesday.
According to dpa, it is the third largest news agency in the world, and the deal allows it to follow in the footsteps Reuters and Press Association, which also have partnered with the California-based Attributor.
Attributor “fingerprints” content, so agencies can see where their content is used, and who views it, which news agencies hope to use as a tool to further monetize content, such as syndication, according to paidContent:UK.
Attributor announced yesterday its monitoring service has expanded to cover more languages, including English, French, German, Italian, Portugese and Spanish, paidContent:UK reported.
“Atrributor’s services enable us to understand which dpa content is most successful online…and provides analytics to improve the design for our customers’ Internet edition,” said Malte von Trotha, dpa chairman.
