Tribune Interactive launches YouTube channels

Posted by Erina Lin on November 30, 2007 at 11:23 PM

Tribune Interactive announced Thursday that it has launched branded channels on YouTube for its television and newspaper properties.

"Our arrangement with YouTube underscores our efforts to leverage our award-winning content and make it more widely available to engage a new group of consumers," said Tim Landon, president of Tribune Interactive, in a statement.

According to the company, the channels feature local news content, commentary and entertainment clips.

The Chicago Tribune's site, for example, allows users to leave comments and gives a count of how many people viewed videos, including a breakdown of the most popular videos. Some of the videos also include advertising, Editor & Publisher reported.

"Working with Tribune Interactive provides our users with relevant local content and timely, reliable local news coverage in some of the largest media markets in the U.S.," said Jordan Hoffner, head of premium content partnerships for YouTube, in a statement.
