Global mobile online users reach 920 million in 2008

Global wireless online access users though mobile phones increased from 70 million to 920 million in 2008, according to iResearch. The growth rate was more than 100 percent in 2003 and 2004, but dropped to double digits in the years following, SFN's Winning Mobile Strategies reported.

The number of Internet Web sites, emerging in the mid-1990s, grew to more than 150 million and reached 850 million computers between 2005 and 2008, according to Whoop. Mobile Web sites, emerging in early the 2000s, by comparison, will reach more than 150 million in number on a total of 3.5 billion handsets in 2010, according to the report, Winning Mobile Strategies, released by SFN and the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers.
