SFN report: Global mobile ad spending to reach $19.1 billion in 2012

Global
mobile advertising spending, according to eMarketer, is expected to grow from
$2.7 billion in 2007 to over $19.1 billion in 2012, SFN's Winning Mobile
Strategies reported.
Global
mobile text message advertising spending will grow from $2.56 billion in 2007 to
$14.17 billion in 2012, while mobile display advertising will grow from $53
million to $1.2 billion, and mobile search will expand from $83 million to
$3.77 billion in the same period.
Global
mobile advertising spending is and will continue to be dominated by mobile text
message advertising, dwarfing the next two most popular types of mobile advertising,
display and directory search advertising, a 2008 study by eMarketer states, a study
by eMarketer forecasts..

In the United States alone, mobile advertising spending will grow from US$648 million in 2008 to $3.33 billion in 2013, according to the report, Winning Mobile Strategies, released by SFN and theWorld Association of Newspapers and News Publishers.
